A Disneyland Resort hotel vacation package combines a room at one of Disneyland's three on-property hotels with multi-day theme park tickets for the registered guests ages 3 and older. Current packages also include a small collection of extras, while meals, airport transportation and most optional park experiences remain separate.
This guide focuses specifically on Walt Disney Travel Company packages at Disneyland Resort hotels—not standalone room reservations or nearby hotels—so you can see what the quoted package price actually covers.
What comes in a Disneyland Resort hotel package?
Disney's official Disneyland Resort hotel package page lists two core components:
- A Disneyland Resort hotel room: Choose a stay at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the Disneyland Hotel or Pixar Place Hotel, subject to availability.
- Multi-day theme park tickets: Each registered guest age 3 or older receives a 2- to 5-day Disneyland Resort eTicket, based on the package selected.
The standard ticket is valid for one park per day: either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park. Park Hopper tickets are an optional upgrade for an additional charge. Your hotel nights and ticket days do not have to be the same number, so check both before booking.
Does the package guarantee theme park entry?
No. As of August 12, 2026, each guest age 3 or older needs both valid admission and a theme park reservation for the same park and date. A separate reservation is needed for each planned park day.
Disney specifically states that staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel does not guarantee a park reservation. Make the required reservations after buying the package and verify that every ticket is linked correctly. Park availability, ticket rules and reservation requirements can change.
A 1-Park Per Day ticket admits the guest to the reserved starting park only. A Park Hopper ticket allows visits to both parks on the same day under Disney's current hopping rules, but it still requires the appropriate starting-park reservation.
Which hotel benefits are included?
Guests registered at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels receive the amenities and eligible benefits connected to that hotel stay. Current benefits include:
- One complimentary Lightning Lane attraction entry: Beginning January 5, 2026, each eligible registered guest age 3 or older receives one entry to one eligible Lightning Lane Multi Pass attraction at either park, redeemable on one day during the hotel stay.
- Close-to-the-parks location: The three on-property hotels are positioned within the walkable Disneyland Resort area.
- Hotel pools, recreation and fitness centers: Registered guests can use the standard amenities offered at their booked hotel. Activities, hours and availability vary.
- Preferred access to select dining reservations: Hotel guests may receive access to a limited pool of reservations at select hotel table-service restaurants during an eligible stay, subject to current terms and availability. Review the official preferred dining reservation benefit for eligibility and current rules.
The complimentary Lightning Lane entry is not a full Lightning Lane Multi Pass. It does not include the other Multi Pass features, cannot be used at Lightning Lane Single Pass attractions and requires valid admission plus a park reservation for the same park and date. Review Disney's official hotel Lightning Lane benefit before travel because eligible attractions and rules can change.
What are the current Magical Extras?
For 2026 arrivals, the Disneyland Resort hotel package page lists two additional items:
- Magical Extras savings: A voucher provides 10% off at many participating dining and merchandise locations in the Downtown Disney District. Participating locations and restrictions apply.
- A collectible pin and lanyard: Each registered guest age 3 or older receives the current Walt Disney Travel Company design, while supplies and package terms apply.
These extras are pleasant additions, but they should not drive the package decision. Their terms and value can change, and the savings voucher is not a blanket discount across the parks or hotels.
For a paid-in-full 2026 package, Disney currently delivers the Travel ePackage—including tickets, itinerary and the Magical Extras voucher—to the linked MyDisney account three days before arrival. Check that the reservation is linked well before that point.
Are meals included in a Disneyland package?
No. Meals, snacks, beverages and gratuities are not automatically included in a standard Disneyland Resort hotel vacation package. Disneyland does not currently offer the same vacation-package dining plans available at Walt Disney World.
Dining packages for shows, character meals and other reserved experiences are separate purchases unless a specific offer explicitly says otherwise. A reservation for a restaurant or dining package also does not replace any theme park admission and reservation required for that location.
What costs extra?
Budget separately for the expenses that matter to your family:
- Airfare and airport transportation: Flights, shuttles, rideshares, rental cars and other travel to Anaheim are separate unless deliberately added as a package component. Brittany does not arrange transportation.
- Meals and gratuities: Food and drinks are not included beyond any narrowly defined promotional offer.
- Parking: Hotel parking, valet service and theme park parking can carry separate charges under the current package terms.
- Park Hopper: Visiting both parks on the same day requires the paid ticket upgrade.
- Lightning Lane purchases: The on-property hotel benefit is one eligible attraction entry, not unlimited access or a complete Multi Pass. Any additional Lightning Lane product is separate.
- Photo products: Disney PhotoPass photos and downloads are separate unless included with a purchased ticket product or offer.
- Special events and tours: After-hours events, tours and premium experiences require separate admission or reservations.
- Travel protection, souvenirs and incidentals: These optional costs are not baseline package inclusions.
Package or room-only reservation: which is better?
A room-only reservation includes the selected Disneyland Resort hotel stay and eligible hotel benefits, but not theme park tickets or the package's Magical Extras. A vacation package places the room and chosen ticket length into one reservation.
Neither choice is automatically less expensive. Compare the same hotel, room category, dates and tickets, then read the payment and cancellation terms. Package prices also cannot always be broken into individual component prices, which makes an apples-to-apples comparison important.
A six-point checklist before booking
- Confirm the hotel, room category, dates and registered guests.
- Count the ticket days separately from the hotel nights.
- Choose 1-Park Per Day or the paid Park Hopper upgrade.
- Check theme park reservation availability for the intended dates.
- List the food, transportation, parking and optional-experience costs outside the package.
- Review the current deposit, final-payment, change and cancellation terms before purchase.
