An Adventures by Disney vacation typically includes much more than a hotel and a list of places to visit. On a Land Adventure, the package generally brings together Disney-trained Adventure Guides, local experts, accommodations, scheduled activities and entertainment, transportation during the guided portion of the trip, and the meals listed in the itinerary.

The important phrase is listed in the itinerary. Inclusions vary by destination and trip type, so the best way to understand the value is to compare the exact day-by-day itinerary—not assume every meal, flight or optional expense is covered.

What is Adventures by Disney?

Adventures by Disney offers guided group vacations to destinations around the world. Instead of arranging every hotel, transfer, admission and activity independently, travelers follow a planned itinerary supported by Adventure Guides and knowledgeable local experts.

The experience is designed to make complex destinations easier to navigate while still providing immersive cultural activities. Adventures can include family departures, Adult Exclusive departures, Land Adventures, River Cruises, Expedition Cruises, Escapes and other trip formats. The details are different for each itinerary.

What is usually included on a Land Adventure?

According to the official Adventures by Disney FAQ, Land Adventures include Adventure Guide services, accommodations, local experts, and scheduled meals, activities and entertainment. The official Land Adventures page also highlights authentic cultural activities and programming for travelers.

  • Adventure Guides: Disney-trained guides manage the group experience, share information, support planned activities and help the itinerary move smoothly.
  • Local experts: Destination specialists add cultural and historical context that would be difficult to recreate through independent sightseeing alone.
  • Accommodations: Hotels or other lodging named in the itinerary are included for the guided trip dates.
  • Featured activities and admissions: Scheduled tours, demonstrations, workshops, performances and attraction admissions identified in the itinerary are included.
  • Transportation during the adventure: The itinerary generally includes the motor coaches, trains, boats or other transportation needed to move between scheduled trip experiences.
  • Selected meals: Each itinerary states how many breakfasts, lunches and dinners are included.

Are all meals included?

No. Many meals are included, but an Adventures by Disney trip does not automatically cover every meal. The itinerary overview provides a total meal count, and each day identifies the included meals.

Meals left open can be a benefit if you want time to choose your own restaurant or explore independently. They are also a budget item to plan for. Compare the trip length with the listed number of breakfasts, lunches and dinners so you know how much dining remains on your own.

Are flights included?

Do not assume airfare to and from the adventure is part of the listed trip price. The official Adventures by Disney terms and conditions state that the specific inclusions are set out in the itinerary and that items not specifically noted are not included.

That means you should confirm the arrival airport, required arrival time, departure point and any pre- or post-night needs before choosing flights. Some itinerary transportation begins only after guests reach a named meeting point.

What expenses should you check separately?

The exact list varies, but first-time travelers should look for these common out-of-pocket categories:

  • airfare or other transportation to the adventure’s starting point and home from its ending point;
  • meals not marked as included;
  • optional activities, shopping and personal expenses;
  • passport, visa or other entry-document costs when applicable;
  • travel protection;
  • extra hotel nights before or after the guided itinerary; and
  • gratuities that the itinerary or FAQ does not say are included.

Gratuity rules deserve special attention. For example, the official FAQ states that Adventure Guide and certain crew gratuities are included on River Cruise departures, while many Land Adventure itinerary pages provide recommended Adventure Guide gratuity ranges. Check the current guidance for your specific trip rather than applying one rule to every Adventures by Disney vacation.

What makes the guided format valuable?

The value is not only the retail cost of the hotel rooms and admissions. A guided trip also bundles the planning, timing, group transportation, destination expertise and access to scheduled experiences into one coordinated vacation.

That can be especially useful when you want to visit several locations, are unfamiliar with the destination, or prefer not to research and reserve every daily detail yourself. It may be less appealing if your favorite part of travel is making spontaneous decisions, changing hotels frequently or spending most days completely on your own.

Is Adventures by Disney only for families with children?

No. Many departures welcome families, but Adventures by Disney also offers Adult Exclusive experiences. Those departures are designed for adult travelers and may include adult-focused activities such as culinary experiences, wine tastings and privately guided visits.

On family departures, some itineraries include programming intended for Junior Adventurers alongside experiences for the full group. Review the recommended and minimum ages on the specific trip page, along with activity levels and accessibility information, before deciding whether an itinerary fits your travelers.

How to compare Adventures by Disney itineraries

Before focusing on the headline price, compare the practical details:

  1. Trip length and pace: Look at hotel changes, early mornings, free time and activity level.
  2. Included meals: Count what is covered and what remains open.
  3. Accommodations: Review the named hotels and room assumptions.
  4. Signature experiences: Identify the activities you would have difficulty arranging independently.
  5. Arrival and departure logistics: Note where the guided services begin and end.
  6. Total vacation cost: Add flights, open meals, gratuities, extra nights, protection and personal spending.

This gives you a much clearer comparison than dividing the package price by the number of days.

Current-details note: I reviewed official Adventures by Disney information on July 29, 2026. Inclusions, itineraries, hotels, meals, age guidelines, gratuity recommendations, availability and terms can change. Always use the current itinerary and travel agreement for the specific departure you are considering.
