An original unbranded cruise ship youth lounge with art supplies, games and ocean views

Disney's Oceaneer Club, Disney's Oceaneer Lab, Edge and Vibe are included in the cruise fare for eligible children, tweens and teens. The important exception is “it's a small world” nursery!, which provides reserved care for babies and toddlers for an additional fee.

The clubs are divided by age, and the rules are not interchangeable. Oceaneer programming is currently for toilet-trained children ages 3 to 10, Edge serves ages 11 to 14, and Vibe serves ages 14 to 17. A 14-year-old falls within the published age range for both Edge and Vibe, while younger children who do not meet the Oceaneer requirements need a different option.

Current-details note: I reviewed Disney Cruise Line's official youth-club, registration, age and nursery guidance on October 31, 2026. Age ranges, venues, activities, hours, fees, band procedures and participation requirements can change and may vary by ship or itinerary. Confirm the rules for your sailing in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and official cruise documents.

Disney Cruise kids clubs at a glance

  • Disney's Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab: included for toilet-trained children ages 3 to 10 during secured programming.
  • Edge: included tween space for ages 11 to 14.
  • Vibe: included teen space for ages 14 to 17.
  • “it's a small world” nursery!: reserved care for babies and toddlers, with an additional fee.
  • Open House: scheduled periods when guests of all ages can visit Oceaneer spaces together.
  • Availability: activities, operating hours and exact spaces vary by ship and sailing.

Disney's official Youth Activity Registration FAQ is the best starting point for current participation and security rules. Use the page for your ship and the Navigator app after boarding for the actual daily schedule.

Are Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab free?

Yes. Disney Cruise Line states that there is no charge to participate in Disney's Oceaneer Club and Disney's Oceaneer Lab. These secured youth spaces offer supervised activities built around play, creativity, games and themed experiences.

Oceaneer Club and Lab are not identical rooms with duplicate programming. Their themes and activities differ, and the spaces can be connected or organized differently depending on the ship. Children can explore the eligible areas and choose activities that interest them during operating hours.

This is one reason the clubs add real value to the fare, but they should not be treated as unlimited guaranteed babysitting. Hours, capacity, activities and operating procedures can change, and every child must meet the current participation requirements.

What ages can use Oceaneer Club and Lab?

During secured programming, Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab are currently limited to children ages 3 through 10 who are fully toilet-trained. Disney says it does not make age exceptions for these reserved-programming periods.

A child being close to a birthday does not move them into the age group early. Compare every child's age on the sailing date with the published range, especially when siblings span different clubs.

Disney also says youth programs cannot provide one-on-one care. Families with accessibility, medical or participation questions should contact Disney Cruise Line Special Services before sailing rather than assuming a club can provide a particular accommodation.

Do you need reservations for Oceaneer Club?

Disney currently says children do not need appointments for specific Oceaneer activities or time slots after they are registered. Eligible children may visit during the available secured-programming hours.

Registration is still required. You can preregister eligible children through the cruise reservation process or complete registration on board. The daily activity schedule appears in the Navigator app, so review it after boarding instead of relying on a schedule from another ship or an older cruise.

What is the Oceaneer Band deposit?

Children ages 10 and younger who register for Oceaneer programming receive an Oceaneer Band for club access. As of October 31, 2026, Disney lists a $25 refundable deposit on the shipboard account. Return the band by the end of the cruise to have the deposit removed; keeping it turns the deposit into a charge.

An active DisneyBand+ can currently be used instead on eligible sailings, although Disney notes that procedures can differ. Confirm the rule for your ship, particularly the Disney Adventure, and do not assume a band from an older sailing can be reused.

Is Edge included for tweens?

Yes. Edge is the included tween club for ages 11 to 14. Disney describes a counselor-led space with games, movies, music, creative activities, scavenger hunts, themed events and time to socialize with cruisers in the same age range.

Edge is less like the secured check-in system used for younger children and more like a supervised tween hangout. Talk through your family's expectations for checking in, leaving the club and communicating around the ship before the first visit.

The room design and activity mix vary by ship. A feature seen in a Disney Treasure video or Disney Wish trip report may not exist in the same form on the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder or another vessel.

Is Vibe included for teens?

Yes. Vibe is the included teen club for ages 14 to 17. It offers a teens-only environment for music, movies, games, group activities and social time, with the specific venue changing across the fleet.

Because Disney currently publishes Edge as ages 11 to 14 and Vibe as ages 14 to 17, a 14-year-old sits in the overlap. Let the teen see the spaces and current programming, then use Disney's onboard guidance to decide which environment fits.

Vibe is not an adult venue, and turning 18 changes eligibility. An older high-school student who is already 18 should review the adult activity options instead of expecting access based on grade level.

Does the nursery cost extra?

Yes. “it's a small world” nursery! is separately priced and requires a reservation. Disney recommends booking early because space is extremely limited.

The nursery generally serves children ages 6 months to 3 years. For Transatlantic, Panama Canal and Hawaii itineraries, Disney currently states that the range begins at age 1. Minimum sailing ages also apply, so confirm both the itinerary's travel requirement and the nursery's participation rules.

Nursery pricing and cancellation terms are shown when the eligible activity becomes available in the reservation system. Advance-booking windows depend on Castaway Club status and other eligibility. Treat nursery time as a limited paid reservation, not as a walk-in inclusion.

Can younger siblings visit during Open House?

Yes. Disney schedules Open House periods when guests of all ages can experience Oceaneer Club and Lab together. This is different from secured programming: parents or guardians remain with children who are not participating independently under the club rules.

Open House can help a hesitant child see the room with family, allow siblings to explore together and give adults a look at the space. Check the Navigator app for the actual times because the schedule changes by day and sailing.

What is not included with the kids clubs?

The included clubs do not make every child-focused experience free. Budget separately for items such as:

  • reserved nursery care;
  • Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or similar makeover packages;
  • select youth Port Adventures or premium experiences;
  • arcade-style or merchandise purchases where offered;
  • shore excursions, souvenirs and specialty food; and
  • the Oceaneer Band charge if the band is not returned.

How to decide whether your family will use the clubs

Included does not automatically mean valuable for every child. A child who loves group activities may want to visit daily, while another may prefer family time, the pool or only a short Open House visit.

  1. Match ages first. List the club each child qualifies for on the sailing date.
  2. Consider independence. Think about comfort with supervised group activities and time away from family.
  3. Review the ship. Look at the youth venues on the exact ship you are considering.
  4. Protect flexibility. Avoid building adult reservations around club use until you understand the child's comfort and current hours.
  5. Use Open House. Tour the space together early in the sailing when that would help.
  6. Budget for nursery care. If a child is too young for Oceaneer programming, include the separate reservation cost.

Trip length also matters. A three-night cruise gives a child fewer chances to settle into a club than a longer sailing. The companion guide How Many Nights Should Your First Disney Cruise Be? explains how sailing length affects time to explore the ship.

Bottom line

Disney Cruise kids clubs for ages 3 through 17 are included when the child meets the rules for Oceaneer Club and Lab, Edge or Vibe. Nursery care for babies and toddlers costs extra and should be reserved early. Check the exact age range, registration steps and ship schedule before relying on a particular club.
